Field trip!!

The staff at Micar software managed to escape the office for  a day out in the countryside, thanks to an invite from one of our existing clients.

This particular client would probably not be the first business that comes to mind when you think about bespoke software development but it is amazing just how varied our client base is today, compared to fifteen years ago.

Debbie and John run a boarding kennels in the Essex countryside.  They have run the business for about 10 years now and during this time they have grown from a small start-up business to one of the biggest boarding kennels in the south east of England. The business has grown  in capacity and they can now hold up to 90 animals at one given time. They cater for all types of animals but they mainly specialise in large breeds  of dogs.

Debbie and John originally ran the business using good old fashioned pen and paper but the recent expansion has caused them rethink their ways. They approached Micar Software for advise on the best system to use and we were only too happy to oblige.

Micar created a Bespoke Software database solution that was tailored to Debbie and Johns exact requirements. The database has a level of basic and advanced functionality that has helped them run their business more efficiently and improve their customer service.

Functionality includes;

• Full customer database
• Animal database that links past/present pets to their owners
• Inventory records for animals (Preference of diet/medication/individual requirements etc
• Booking database with overbooking/capacity advanced warnings
• Business plan projections for the months/years ahead.

Another feature requested was a "seasonal notification". This is an automated process where the database creates an advanced notification letter that can be sent out to customers that use their service regularly during busy holiday periods. The feature encourages regular customers to book in advance for peak times such as Bank Holidays, Easter and Christmas. Season Notifications also help improve customer relation and business continuity.

We are off back to the smoke now after our lovely day out in the countryside. It was nice while it lasted!
